What is SK8school?

Eastbourne Skate School (SK8school)

We are a co-operative of several Instructors, coaches and volunteers bringing the highest quality skating lessons and events to the skaters of Eastbourne and beyond. Although Eastbourne Skate School  has its roots in Eastbourne, it has branches and partners in London, Brighton and Bexhill, allowing us to cover most of Sussex and London..

SK8school has some of the most Qualified and Experienced instructors in Europe. We have Level 3 qualified ICP Examiner Instructors, the longest serving ICP instructor in Europe and Coaches that have been running Roller Rinks since the 70’s!

Over the years we have developed many lesson formats enabling us to find the perfect class, lesson, course or event for you, regardless of age or ability.

To complement our expansive lesson program we also run events, social skates, tours and holidays as well as roller discos, roller birthday parties etc.

About SK8school and Eastbourne Roller Disco.

SK8school was founded in 2003 by Eastbourne skate enthusiast and instructor Tim Wheals. Our aim is to make skating as fun and accessible as possible so that everyone can share in the experience.

We run a program of lessons staffed with some of the most experienced and qualified Quad and Inline Instructors in East Sussex. Our senior instructor has the distinction of being the longest standing Inline instructor in Europe having qualified and taught since 1995.

We also run Roller Discos in partnership with the local Council. We started out in Cavendish Sports Centre nearly a decade ago before moving to Hampden Park then finally, relocating to Eastbourne Sports Park Arena where our Eastbourne Roller Disco provides skaters with the largest indoor skating area in the South.

Not only do we work with the Council providing roller discos, we also work with most of the local Primary Schools running After School Skate Clubs. This means our staff must have the necessary DBS checks, insurance and documentation and as such we are only permitted to have staff aged 18 or over working with us.

Behind the scenes you can also find us supporting and contributing to many charities and local groups in the form of galas, entertainment and prizes. We are regular contributors to the Eastbourne Sports Festival and raise funds for charities such as the NSPCC. However, when we run the show ourselves rather than simply contributing, we achieve even more… our last 2 big fund raisers for local causes brought in nearly £4,500!
